Grooming: The Newfypoo has a fine to coarse hypoallergenic coat that needs daily grooming. The hair around the eyes can get in the way and needs to be trimmed occasionally. They can have a strong beard needs cleaning regularly.
Color: The color of the Newfypoos coat depends on the color of the parent’s coats. Typical colors are Red, Brown and Black. Newfypoos can be parti or tri colored.
Bathing: With Newfypoos you won’t notice that doggy smell but they do need to be professionally bathed and blown out once a month.  Newfypoos have natural oils in the coat that acts as protection, bathing too often will strip this protective oil from their coats.
Shedding: The Newfypoo is a low to no shed dog.
Coat: The coat of the Newfypoo is long and wavy.

The coat will change from a puppy coat to an adult coat. The coat should be combed several times a week, they should be professionally bathed and blown out once a month and have their hair cut every 3 to 4 months.

It is possible to have a newfypoo with a hair, curly/wool or fleece coat. Curly/wool and fleece coats are the most common in Newfypoos.

  • CURLY or WOOL coats do not shed. The wool coat is dense and will take more time to comb thoroughly and will be fine if only combed once or twice a week.  The wool coat grows slower and therefore will need less frequent haircuts but will still need a monthly professional bath and blow out.

  • FLEECE COATS this non shedding coat has a soft feel and requires more frequent combing to keep it from matting.  The fleece coat grows fast and is the most high maintenance coat.
  • HAIR coats are the easiest coats to maintain. They don’t need much grooming, except for a little trimming around the eyes and chin. Most hair coats do shed!  You will need to use a soft bristle brush on their coat to distribute their natural oils.  The hair coat is a very low maintenance coat if you can live with the shedding.

Both the wool and fleece coat should be thoroughly combed out to insure it is mat free before they get wet!  If the coat is maintained in a short cut you still have to comb it often.
